I was going to send in an idea for a Play for a 2017 celebration I know about. It's an annual thing, and I've done 3 plays in the neighborhood already. Enough to make me feel like I'm the Resident Playwright, and also enough to make me feel like I don't want to be my own producer anymore.
The IDEA I had (About Hinduism and Henry David Thoreau and Hippies who aren't interested in India) seems underpublished (when looking for research). It also seems to be fitting into a NEW series of short stories I'm writing.
I'd like to focus on getting them published together, as a THING, a BOOK. There's not too much going on in terms of dialogue (although there can always be sections which are like plays)
And conversations.
I had missed the deadline and was hesitant about sending an email, asking if I should apply anyway. Scared that they would say yes.
I'd rather be in NYC. Publishing. Getting it down on paper. Producing things by myself is just too hard (I hate to say it, but it's true, especially under these unfriendly conditions! Too hot, all by myself, the crazy video guy, no support, lugging food, etc, begging my friends to come, they came the first time and enjoyed themselves, but not enough to come again)
I'd rather have a book, a bit of money is not too much to commit (you don't even have to read it after!). A calling card for an idea. And it's just words. Not coordinating words and coordinating people.
