WILDCAT/MOUSETRAPS: The Description

WILDCAT/MOUSETRAPS is intended to be a site-specific multi-media installation questioning the dichotomies of wild vs tame and brutal vs beautiful.

During the Summer of 2014, the Studio Barn in Claryville will be transformed into a workshop of items. Each will have an element of Mousetraps and will include Found objects, repurposed into Art.

Why Mousetraps? They are manufactured as killing machines, to be hidden from sight. To remove small pests from City life or Country life. The artist has been exploring the possibilities of these tiny canvases for the part few years. The grain of wood can call to mind dream landscapes, or the rectangular series can refer to the windows of a building at night.

These everyday objects are not what they seem, and the goal of WILDCAT/MOUSETRAPS is to play with the possibility of creating an Other. To transform the Brutal into Beauty.

Gettin In!!

Just arrived & unloaded stuff from the journey.

Patrizia checked out the garden and was astonished to find so much had grown in the past week the seeds had been planted.

After Peter generously supplied me with twine and chain to my hearts content, I walked back up to the studio barn. The firehouse siren rang out, to announce something spectacular.

The Summer of Mousetraps has begun!
